Absolutely nuts!
Absolutely nuts!
Looking for a 1/48 Grumman HU-16A Albatross.....They are from 90 to 125 dollars! Uh, not gonna happen.

Re: Absolutely nuts!
Well, it is a big aircraft. And Trumpeter are not making cheap kits.
It could be worse, the RVHP kit can cost up to € 250,-.

yep. I was thinking about getting the Grumman seaplanes - Duck, Widgeon, Mallard, Goose, Albatross, etc. Maybe not, huh?

I just remembered that I have a 1958 boxing of the Monogram 1/72 Albatross. The one with the "goth" sized rivets.. Just saw it listed on OldModelKits.com for $95.00. Wow. I paid around 10, maybe? Sheesh. OH, it is VINTAGE.

I'm antique! Or, Chronologically challenged! or I forget. I've got a bid in on the Glencoe kit - the J2F-2 Duck. Waiting to hear if the seller of the CA Wideon will do a buy it now. The Duck got a pretty good review and the Widgeon wasn't too bad...

Re: Absolutely nuts!
Lets see now, Revell/Monogram can put out a 1/48 PBY, a far larger aircraft, for less than half the price (probably closer to 1/3) of the Trumpeter Albatross. And I wont go into the peculiars of Chinese manufacturing (labor, ownership, & material costs, etc.). What's wrong with this picture?
