Here is my recently completed 1/32 Tamiya F4U-1a Corsair painted in one of Greg "Pappy" Boyington's purported mounts, BuNo. 17740. The Tamiya kit is an extraordinary state-of-the-art kit and doesn't need much to build up into an impressive model but I did take the liberty of adding a few aftermarket items:

1. Vector Resin Cowling
2. Barracuda Resin Wheels and Tires
3. HGW Fabric and Phototech Harness
4. Barracuda Cockpit Stencils
5. Montex Masks
6. True Details Resin Parachute

The canopy is removable so that I can pose it in the closed or open position. I did not glue the wings into place so that transport would be easier. AK Real Colors acrylic paints were used for the exterior.

Thank you so much, Johnny! It was subject that I was not planning to do and built for a fan who used to watch Baa Baa Black Sheep, as many of us did. Once I started, I enjoyed the "newness" of doing a non-Luftwaffe warplane. And learned alot on the way too.

Thanks Bruce! Your input is always much appreciated and I look forward to seeing work on your own Corsair. It's an interesting aircraft for sure and I remember thinking that the floorless cockpit must've taken some time to get accustomed to.

And thank you, Carlos! Sincerely. This was a long, drawn out build and marked by some speculative choices on my part. I know that these choices may not have made sense to everyone but rightly or wrongly, they made sense to me and that's what makes the build personal. I know that you have a lot of knowledge regarding aircraft and military history in general so I do appreciate your comments and input. Now, it's on to the next project(s)... back to my comfort zone with the Bf109 and Ta152H.
