There has been an aircraft crash in Germany, a Learjet and a Eurofighter have collided. The Typhoon is ok, but the Learjet crashed, killing two. My German is limited but if I understand correctly the Learjet flying as target simulation.

Learjet and Eurofighter collide
Re: Learjet and Eurofighter collide
so sad. There was an accident a number of years ago in the US, where a twin Beech Baron busted the Atlantic Defense Zone. They scrambled a couple of F-4 Phantoms. . . in cloudy, foggy weather. Long story short, the F-4 ended up slicing the Baron in half, horizontally tail to nose. They found some bits of occupant on the F-4's wing. and nothing else was recovered. The F-4 made it back to base.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Although body fragments were found at the crash site, the Learjet's second crew member is still reported missing.
The airplane was operated by GFD GmbH, a German defense contractor providing the Bundesluftwaffe with target towing/target simulation, live electronic warfare and fighter mission control training services.

News report in english.
The phantom baron incident happened in 1986. There was also one where a Phantom sliced the nose off a DC-10 i think it was. The phantom was flying low because of a faulty oxygen system and because of that crash the entire LA flight plan setup has changed. Its where the stack came from instead of the wagon wheel like they used to have.

You can learn all the math in the 'Verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.
Re: Learjet and Eurofighter collide
These types of incidents are always nasty. And without a ejection seat the survival chances of the Learjet crew where not that good.
There is probably goign to be a inquiry to research the case of this accident. Because if the Learjet and the Typhoon where in an excersise together it could be that somebody made a mistake.
