Wanting to try out my new photo booth, I decided to build some figures from this Academy set. For some reason my new area puts me in a mood for this set...

so far I have built two figures... one from Algeria in the 50s, and another from Djibouti in the 80s...

I’ve started basic painting and will build more of the figures and get them posted over the next few days here...

Very cool subject! I like the zouve pants. Can we expect a diorama? Dien Bien Phu perhaps?

No diorama. These figures cover 30 years of Legion history across two continents. And only one is from Indochina.

Very cool. I need to learn to paint figures like this. I have a lot from those Hasegawa sets.

They are indeed! Their battle honors post WWII are pretty impressive.

Yes, figure painting is my biggest challenge. Not something that I can say that I have come close to mastering, let alone getting constant acceptable results.

Some funny looking uniforms. Looks like your photo booth is giving some good lighting.

The Sahara uniform is actually pretty practical for its intended area. And I imagine that the hot weather walking out dress uniform is not a bad option for Djibouti either.

Yes, the booth has a nice adjustable brightness LED halo lamp up top for proper lighting. No more fiddling around like before.
