Recently i see some good wip of hurricanes but none in the stash.. thinkin to buy the academy or the revell ones but a friend resolved the gap and give me for free this cold old heller kit :o despite the old mould it's a surprising good kit. Shapes seems correct and fit is good.
I started the kit about two weeks ago but the time to post is really few :(

So the box and sprues first:

clear parts really well done and the opened version works perfect, just a bad step in front of the windscreen that will show after

Image

Image

Cockpit wall are clear of details, some scratch i'll do

Image

Wells are perfect in dept but withouth details

Image

Wings cleared

Image

Glued wings pieces and propeller group

Image

A first way to detail the cockpit, stretched sprue and palstic sheet to simulate rudder pedals basement. Also cut the vertical rudder

Image

Image

A test fitting reveals some correction: IP too long in height and the floor must be deeper

Image

So the solution, also starting to reproduce the cockpit structures

Image

Image

new IP shape

Image

Structuring sides

Image

Image

Image

Image

removed the long gun from wings to help sanding sessions, also make holes for reference

Image

tried a new way for IP instruments, border with copper wire but i sucessfully glued only three of them :( and not perfect work

Image

Image

Structuring the floor that give me the way to glue it to the rest of cockpit, the lond botto rods will used as pins too :) the seat modified too but not yet finished

Image

Pins housing

Image

test fitting

That's all for now, at the next :)

Those old Heller kits are not half bad, shape and fit are often pretty good. They make a perfect canvas for scratch details like you always do!

Great work BSYamato. One thing, I think those fins on the nose are a bit big. These where flame dampers for the nightfighter version and I think they where a bit smaller.

Thank you Borg :)
Fins already removed yesterday after another modeller advice . Last night another layer of primer and this afternoon starting the tropical RAF scheme , a friend will send decals for a daytime desert version of hurricane and also italian decals for this :yipee:

Image

get recently the revell kit but only decals for german , french and holland version :(

You are welcome BSYamato! RAF tropical? Interesting scheme!

I did not even know that Italy also used/uses the Atlantic. It has been a very unremarkable plane in Dutch use. Three of the nine crashed and this spurred the purchase of the P-3 to replace the rest of the Neptunes instead of buying more Alantics.
