Vintage armor kit question

I'm 55 years old. So this question may be good for all the older guys here.

When I was around8 or 9 I got a very small model kit for a birthday . It was an M3 Lee and it was very small but it had a lot of infantry in the box as well. I think it was molded in white [Dreaded for me at that time since paint was a no no].

Longish flat box from say about 1972/72 ish.

Any ideas? I want to see about getting one and actually building it as a dio.

My first guess would be the Airfix M3 kit boxed by MPC with a bunch of figures and a vacuform base stand. I had that kit around then. Hasegawa also did a 1/72 Lee, but I don’t recall that kit ever being sold in a set.

Thank you so much. It's in white plastic I imagine. Now to go hunt one down.

Thank You so much!

I’ve built too many kits over the years... :headslap:

Let us know if you find one.

It looks to me like it will be a while and when it comes up and will have to pay.

I can live with that.

Thanks again for the help.

Yeah, I also had that same kit and had started it. I put it on hold because the fender on the gun side of mine disappeared. When I finally found it, I went to go back and finish it but my mom had tossed the rest of it out, thinking it was just a pile of spare plastic junk. Man, I was crushed! I would also like to find one and finally complete it as a nostalgia build someday.

Oh great, now we are in competition for it. LOL. They are already quite pricey when you find one.

I have a standard search on eBay and so far since my first post nothing. But somewhere, someplace there are unbuilt kits awaiting discovery. I will be patient.

Patience is key. Don't worry about competition though, I'm not actively searching for one. If one happens to fall into my path, I'll grab it but that's about it.

So the game is afoot then.

Looking at past auctions we can expect to pay upwards of $50.00 USD for it. I'll bet it was $2.00 new.
