SPA Modeler

I know I've got an aircraft build going on but I just had to start this thread as I've really had my eye on yet another Maverick build to start when I finish the 262 up. I had a really good time with my Dyno Don Maverick build. True....there were some trying times involved but I think I've my process down on these cars now. I have another Jo-Han Maverick in the stash. She's a glue bomb and I really tried to work with it a couple of years ago but the builder that painted it had a mix of skills. Some good.....some not yet perfected at the time of the painting. I'll be stripping the body paint down to bare plastic on this and building a totally different car out of it.

This should be fun to watch! It's already pretty good looking but I see why it needs some love. Where are you going to get the Fenton wheels? I know that the Ohio George 33 Willys has a gorgeous set in that kit. The tires are excellent as well. You'd have to sacrifice the rest of the kit since i don't know of any other with such a set. I'd try MCM and ask around. Someone there would certainly know.

This car looks like it has a cammer in it also. What is under the hood of the Jo-Han?

Bob: Thanks for the comments. Actually it's got both engines in the kit but there's a better one out there that I'll be going after. I might have the Fenton issue covered. I got all kinds of wheels from the last build that I accrued along the way. The best ones of the bunch were a set of aluminum ones.

Fun times! Will you disassemble the entire thing?

I think he must. If it's to be to his exacting standards then he will take it apart bit by bit and transform it into his vision.

Very cool! I've never seen anyone strip a finished model to redo it. It'll be cool to watch.

Thanks for the comments fellas. Yeah I'll have to completely disassemble it but.....I may not have to strip the paint after all. I've got another body and hood on the way.

Welp.....it looks like I may get a fresh start with this one. Picked up a body and hood last night on ebay.
