World War Toons Tiger and Panther

Like many of us, when I go into Hobby Lobby I see these on the shelf and wonder "These look like plain old fun. Will I be laughed at across the globe, and reviled by modelers everywhere?". The answer is inevitably NO, and I could give a toss.

I have seen a few of these here and thought I'd show my World War Toons to the world. Nothing fancy here just fun out of the box with finishes being the main emphasis. I've built the Sherman also but it resides in my brother Rick's collection. I may have pix of it somewhere, so if I find those I'll post them within this thread.

Are these the Meng kits? This chibi models make for a nice diversion. It is developing into a whole scene, even with comics such as Angelo’s world.

Yes Sir, these are MENG kits. And you are right about a scene. It's almost like their being fun is the entire point. Which it is.

Nice job in both. These are just pure fun to build and look at. I did my first one last year - great fun.

Very cool! I've done a couple of egg planes and have the egg space shuttle on the bench too.

I built a Meng Eggplane B-17 with my grandson, but as for myself the only eggplane I have done is this C-123....

I've been meaning to try an eggplane or two. They are adorable. A C123 eh? That looks awesome.

Needs more rust and mud... :bag: :giggles:

I've seen them at my Hobby Lobby but been meaning to pick up an Egg kit. Maybe next time I go there, I'll pick one up.

While I know of a couple people who hate these things, the vast majority recognize them for what they are: pure fun! I have done a couple egg planes myself; one was a done for a one hour build challenge at a club barbecue. I was the only one who got mine to the decal stage, so I won a 1/32 scale Visible Mustang kit as a prize.

I also remember at the most recent IPMS nationals, one person built at least one of every egg plane, toon tank or chibi ship there is and placed them in a chicken coop setting; including a couple of them in nests surrounded by broken eggshells.

You did a fantastic job on these kits! Way to go!
