"Fire in the Hole !"

I've been working on this for the past week. Since there were red decals for various panels on the X-Wing, I decided to paint a band of red on the tail area as a What-if scheme. The red band commemorates the Tuskegee Red Tails Squadron.

Man I must be the only person on here who's not built a X-Wing...

Exce work Tom - I love the addition of the Red Tails band.

Thank you fellas. The photo doesn’t quite show it but I weathered it overall using dark grey chalk, water and a couple drops of dish soap. After I let it dry out, I went airbrushed it with a coat of flat clearcoat to seal it all in. I’m happy with the outcome. The cheap chalk wash is more forgiving than most major brand paneliner products.

Very nice build! Them Bandai kits build up really well. Did that base come with the kit or from somewhere else?

Very cool. I haven’t built one of these either. Nice job.

I've built so many X-Wings over the years but Red Tails never came to mind.

I have a couple of AMT's in the stash and Round 2 is going to re issue all the Star Wars stuff since they renewed the license. I imagine there will finally be some photo etch and good resin for them

Congratulations, Tom. Your weathering reminds me of ILM’s work, properly done. Great idea to add the additional homage to the Red Tails! Take a bow!!
