I did that kit. Really easy & simple kit to do. It shouldn’t take you long to assemble it in a couple hours. Once you get it all assembled aside from the tracks, you’re ready for paint and decals.

Get a base at a Hobby Lobby or craft store. Use the hole on the lower hull to install a machine screw and washer and nut to attach to the wood base.

This was one of the first kits I built getting back into the hobby. It's a really easy kit with some great detail, you know a Tamiya kit. I'm excited to see what you do with this.

Very good ideas, Tom. Thanks. I am planning to fill in the base openings and the three or four visible injector pin impressions as well, all good practice for me.

Clint,

You hit on exactly why I wanted to build something like this—an experience boost. I wanted to add more depth to my abilities. I asked Carlos for help. He told me the kits to start with, and even found the one on eBay which I ordered.

Very happy to help however I can. You’re gonna enjoy the simplicity of this one. Sometimes that is just what we need.

An interesting project there Bruce!

I have never built this kit, but I remember "as it was yesterday" watching the box when I was a young school boy in the early '80s.
The cover box, with the running/attacking soldiers, looked so cool.
Very nostalgic memories while watching this thread!

Kari,

Yes, I remember seeing these lovely painted boxes, this one as well as the Hanomag (spelling) and so many others of the Tamiya lineup at the local hobby store. I remember me as that boy wanting to build every kit inside those walls, with a glowing fierce attraction for everything; the seduction of the plastic itself. And somehow, too, I remember not having enough money saved to buy everything, the small amount of cash was just not quite enough, and my father sternly wanting to teach me the value of money refusing to give me any more, not that I judge him, he was doing what he felt was best for me; and his hobbies would be where I would learn my foundational techniques. I would learn from him how to build electric powered trains, cars, ships, but never much in the way of military models. How I longed for tanks, aircraft and submarines. So in an effort to correct this, here I am. Here is a point of entry.
