Working on a "1946" build, a tall tail p-51H in operational units, but I cant figure out what decals to use! :(
Should I do NMF or NG/OD?
This is whats included in the kit, Air Guard and Brit markings. I figured these wouldnt really fit into what I wanted...
I also have a nice collection of spare decals from the revelgram -D kit; you know the one
Spare decals from another revell kit, this time the -B/C mark...
I also have a p-40 decal sheet. Many units with -40s got replacement planes along the way and I figured a pilot carrying over his nose art wouldnt be too outlandish.
same thing for the P-47's
and of course I could just scrounge up more decals from the spares
anyone have thoughts??

By early to mid 1945, OD/NG had pretty much disappeared from aircraft coming out of US factories bound for the USAAF. Even though the 1946 stuff is very much "what if?", to keep it historically plausible, I say NMF.

Personally, i think if the war continued into 1946, chances are allied forces wont have gained air superiority quite so quickly, so OD/NG aircraft would still be around. I like the idea of the P-40 markings. Maybe do it up as liberaiders same colours and everything.

Maybe you could do a scheme that did not excist. Like NMF with a field applied camouflage. Or a winter scheme?
And a shark mouth would look great on a H.
