So I saw one of my models on the shelf. I decided I hated it, and I wanted to add some colour. Soooo I am redoing my migs paint.
Before: (I had no image of the plane itself, so this is all I have. However, theres not much to show.

Considering this is the Revell kit, the panel lines were raised. Add 120000 layers of paint, and I have no more panel lines. That's ok, this won't be seen by anyone. I just wanted a more interesting paint scheme.
Step one was the dark blue:

I am just painting over the black areas with the blue to make it seem like it was just a darker blue. Accurate? Nope. Dun care.
I have never done multi coloured camo with my airbrush, mostly because it never works, so this first step is lookin pretty neat to me. The airbrush decided today was an acceptable day to function, so I took advantage of it. I am thinking of using the old base colour just as the mid tone, and I have a sky blue for the light tone. It isn't quite right for the mig's real colours, but it is pretty close in my eye.
This is the image I am working off:

I was gonna say that it now looks like the Flanker style camo. You could always do a fictitious nation’s markings like in Top Gun or Conch Republic or wherever to truly roll with your invented scheme.

Hmm. I thought the model itself was the Flanker. But further investigation told me it was a mig. But once I saw the blue camo, I knew I had to do it. I think I will cover the stars with paint, and make/get new markings.

The Ukrainians like those blue schemes, and that looks like a Ukraine MiG 29 in the photo.

Looks like you've done pretty dang good there Declan. Liking what I'm seeing so far. I'd do one of these myself but I've got waaaaaaaaaaay too many build ahead of it.
