I've officially dipped my toes into the world of armor. I picked this kit up at the IPMS Boise show a couple of months ago to see if I would like building something besides flying things. I have to say, it has been kind of fun and also challenged me in areas. I'm still learning as I go, but I have picked up another kit to give a try later on. For now, here's a few of the pics I have up to now. Next steps are weathering and chipping.

Thank's Lyle! I will never leave my wingy-thingy roots, ever! While some armor looks cool, it will never replace my love of flying things.

Thanks all! I've got plans to do some chipping, adding some sandy mud splashes and try my hand at dusty weathering. I've been watching some Uncle Night Shift stuff, tho I'll never be up to that level! That dude makes things look wayyyyy to easy. Granted, his builds and weathering work takes days and weeks sometimes, but man, he's got skill.

As far as weathering and chipping goes, have a blast with the weathering, but use a very restrained hand on the chipping. Have a look at Chally 2’s in Iraq and look for chipping on those. Personally I believe that chipping is an overdone finishing fad in the vast majority of builds that use the technique.

I agree with Carlos. I've never seen chipping on a modern tank in any pics I've looked at. They are painted with a type of very durable paint designed to withstand any type of abuse that would chip off normal paint. I also think it's an overdone finishing fad; as if people believe that their model isn't worthy of the "in" crowd if it isn't chipped. LOL!

I am looking forward to seeing this weathered.
