Thanks Gents - you're too kind.

John - just like anything else I suppose, practice practice practice. I don't know how you airbrush guys do it - my few attempts have been terrible.

I've been making some progress on this old Matchbox F-16A as part of my MB 50th anniversary builds...

Image

It's a pretty basic kit, moulded in 1979.

Image

Basic build up of the cockpit - nothing fancy as it's a very simple cockpit and I'm past the stage of wanting to try and improve these old kits.

Image

And some progress on the construction. The fit is actually quite good and hardly any filler was used other than the top deck and the intake.

Image

And all the main bits are together - just a bit of PPP on the wing roots and around the fin...

Image

I used to think this kit was over scale, but having compared it to some 1/72 plans I have, it's actually a pretty damn good match for an early block A model. Here's how it compares to the Airfix kit I built last year.

Image

Next up is a mask up of the canopy and prime, and then onto the U/C and the weapons. I have a lot of leftover parts from the CJ I was building last year that'll fit this - pylons, wheels, winders etc.

Cheers!

I plan on building one of my 1/48 early F-16As as a Desert Storm NY ANG bird. They were one of two Guard units to take their F-16s to that war, South Carolina being the other, and also equipped with A’s.

Stuart, it looks to me like everything forward of the wing is stretched forward, and the canopy looks lot longer compared to the Airfix kit.

That's cool Carlos, I'll look forward to that.

:hmm: It does in that photo doesn't it, that's pretty strange as it does match the profile of the plans I have pretty well.

Boys from Syracuse.... Nice! I had forgotten about doing a Viper of that’s scheme. Now I’ve got to do one. :giggles: That photo looks to be up in the Thousand Island region up in Alexandria Bay, NY.

Syracuse is an easy hour’s drive west from me. Haven’t been out there this past summer. I did go to Syrcon 2021 which was held in Cicero, just outside the city of Syracuse.
