This will be interesting, as well as the subject itself.

Interesting story all in all of IJN Mogami.
Only in 2019 the wreck was found on a depth of 1450 meters

There she lays on the bottom of the sea

Looks like a really cool subject. Gonna have to read up on this ship.

She has quite a tale. Heavily damaged at Midway, and later sunk at Surigao Strait. Definitely a subject to model for the places she went and events that she was part of.

I’m looking forward to jumping into this one but not tonight.

Slept for 12 - 13 hours since last night - got up about 10:45 this morning, had a quick breakfast went back to sleep til about 1 or so. It’s exhausting when you’re hosting Christmas dinner with cooking, baking 3 kinds of cookies, getting the house ready for Christmas Day dinner, and the clean up after the guests are gone. Spent an hour or so putting together the weight bench for my son. Instruction guide is mainly visual, not part numbers or what goes where. What do you expect from instruction guide from China... :bored:
Couldn’t figure out two parts where they go since the guide didn’t specify. Had to look in product pics from Walmart and figured it out. Then came trying to figure out the fold away portion and realized it was my error. Fixed that this today. Saw in same pics of product images.

A little progress made and a question.

Weight added to bottom panel...

Now my question on how to proceed. Which would be the correct process? Instruction guide, Step 1... do I glue parts B1 and B2 to base first or glue B1 & B2 together prior to gluing to base? :hmm:

This is my first ever 1/700 Waterline series ship model kit. Never done one before so this kinda threw me off for a loop. Any advice would be appreciated.

I would get the sides lined up together first then glue it to the base piece. I think it would be easier to fill and hide any gaps at the bottom rather than having a uneven top.

My thoughts exactly, Clint. I watched a video on YouTube of this waterline kit. Holy crap! I’ve got some work cut out for me and found out myself as I went ahead to work on the bridge. This one I really need to be careful using tweezers on tiny parts and not lose them into the vast nothingness. And... take it slow.... trim excess sprues, test and test again before gluing.

Key for me is tape when cutting tiny parts off the sprue. It does cut down on them flinging away and not knowing which direction it has gone off to. Not the first time I’ve used this method but it does help.

So far, it’s moving along good. Pics forthcoming...
