Or, The Shelf of Doom. Since most of us intend to finish these someday....well, you know.

Ok, I gotta finish this damn thing. Just a few touch ups to do on the nose. I'm not happy how light the grey is on the nose so I'll repaint it a little darker. No biggie since I forgot that part of the pitot tube needs to be the radome color as well. I'm also going to paint the inside of the exhausts.

:hmm: Hard to tell just from a photo, but yeah, I think you're right about it being light.

Looking really goo though Mike - looking forward to seeing this one finished!

Well if you look at a line of Vipers, they all have different colored radomes, so any grey is fine. This is just too light for me.

When the production line switched from black to gray radomes early on, it was supposed to be in Neutral Gray FS 36270, to match the upper surface in that area. But the radomes are made from an unpainted fiberglass, and they sure do look to weather darker than the original specified color. Not quite so dark as the FS 36118 Gunship Gray used on the upper surface aft of the cockpit, but somewhere in between.

I was going to use Neutral Grey which is darker but not too dark.

So while I was getting things together to make sure everything was done on the Viper, I noticed that the AMRAAM's still had scrape marks on them that need to be addressed before moving on. They're very noticeable to they can't be ignored or hidden.
