Methyl Ethyl Keytone

Post by LyleW »

Looking at the "ingredients" on a bottle of Plastruct Plastic Weld...says it contains good ol' Ethyl (MEK). The stores around here that even carry it only carry gallon cans. Do you guys have any sources for quart cans of this stuff. I have found it online for around 12-15 bucks a quart.

Lyle, our local Tru-Value hardware store and also the Ace Hardware-affiliated lumber yard have MEK in quart cans. I use it as liquid see-ment. Hot as hell, and toxic as the devil too.

I'll have to check our Ace outlet. Again.

Not sure what all is in the Plastic Weld besides MEK, but I like how it works. Up here, it seems near impossible to buy quarts of MEK, but you can buy gallons at most big box stores that sell such things. I had heard it was due to druggies using it to manufacture "stuff". Who knows. Seems to me that a gallon would be more useful than quarts.

Anyway, lots of air movement when using it.

Fantastic show, with one of the best endings in TV history.
