1957 Ford Fairlane Hardtop

Post by BlackSheep214 »

Overall. this isn't too bad of a kit except for the molded in exhaust system and a lack of a step for installing the engine on the chassis. Doors have to be installed which is something I've always hated doing. I opt to glue them shut.
This particular kit gives you 3 options to build it - stock, drag or custom. Custom version gives you different custom parts for nose end and rear end. I chose to build in drag version.

Nice job sir. I glued the doors shut on mine too. They're not the easiest to get to hang properly.

No they’re not. I find them a PITA to do but they’re doable if you’re patient to get them to fit right.

I’ve got an oldie Revell pink ‘57 Chevy Lowrider kit (remember that kit?) that has the opening doors like the Fairlane has.

Thank you for the kind words, John. As much as I kinda liked the look of the ‘57 Fairlane, I had debated whether to build it as a mean street machine or a drag car. Maybe down the road, I’ll build another as a street machine.

That really looks good! Two tough colors to pull off.

Actually, they weren’t hard to pull off. The yellow was the PollyScale Railroad color - sprayed in 2 coats, no primer. The blue was decanted Rustoleum 2X Satin Ink Blue. Airbrushed beautifully with no thinning necessary.

I gotta admit, those colors really made the car pop.

That they did. Those colors are perfect for the subject.
