Once again, another Shelf Queen got finished. This is the ancient Airfix kit of the British SE.5 from World War I:











This one had been languishing for a lot longer than the RAF Rescue Launch. I've had this one sitting on the bench for over ten years. I've always liked this plane; it's one of my top three favorites from WWI.

Nice Mark. The SE 5 was one of my first 10 models or so. Fond memories and one of my favorite WW1 planes. It was the gun atop the wing that intrigued me.

Thank you Carlos! Yes it is. Finishing one like this ten years after starting it, and the RAF launch which was started about five or six years ago; feels like even more of an accomplishment.

Thank you Johnny! I did the prop with a base coat of Wood and then striped it with a darker brown using a very fine brush.

John, thank you! I also had built one of these in my distant youth, but not nearly as good obviously. On my original one, I don't remember the gun over the wing, but then again, it was so many years ago. It is intriguing isn't it? Glad I could bring back pleasant memories.
