SPA Modeler

Just got started on these two today....A6M3(clipped wing) and A6M2b.
Only real differences that I've noticed so far are...a couple pit details, cowling and wing tips.
Along with some Eduard PE, these pits were a joy to build!

(the black areas won't be seen...I used that area to wipe off some of the excess wash from the brush)


The clear glue instrument "glass" was still wet when I snapped the pics.

That is some amazing detail in any scale but specially 1/72.

Agreed, Borg! Fermis, amazing work on 1/72 subjects. Oh, to be young again!

Made some good progress today!
I decided to try something different with the finish on these. I found quite a few pics with a "caramelized" IJN grey/green. I made an attempt at this color a while back, on a Val....



I wasn't overly thrilled with it, color seems a bit too solid to me.
On a test piece, I pre-shaded, then sprayed a mix of Lt. Ghost grey / RAF intr Green (didn't have IJN grey/green on hand)...I then added a touch of "Italian Sand" enamel (about a drop) to 3/4 paint cup of clear gloss lacquer and sprayed half of the test piece.

Plane is in IJN grey/green, straight off the shelf(old build).

This is where they are now....clipped wing bird has been "caramelized", to a lesser extent(gotta keep a little variety!!!), fiddly bits are all painted and everything is glossed and ready for a decal session!

I think the Japs painted the rear face of the prop blades flat black...
