Accurate Miniatures SBD-1

Post by jeaton01 »

Here's a starter post for the Dauntless. Parts is Parts! The arrestor hook is short shot, but I bought some of those left over kits that were being sold after AM stopped production so that should not be a problem.

Nice! I believe I have one of these in the stash but I think it's a later version.

I've been working on the SBD, somehow it feels like work, slavishly following the instructions step by step so as not to screw things up. Calvin's approach is more fun, I think!

There is a lot of detail in the cockpit, but there are some things that could have been easier to do with as good a result. I'll do a few things different on the next one. Fit is pretty good overall, and the engine assembly was fun. The instrument panel was less so but looks OK.

Wow great progress John. I've done a couple AM kits and loved the detail - ahead of their time. But thought the instruction format was a bit strange. I have their TBF-1C Avenger in the stash. This yellow wings build has me wanting to do one once the shop is up.
Thanks,
John

Nice!
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Same here. The instructions on the AM kits I've done always seem to have some dumb errors. The kind when you think, did they even proof read this?
