My corner in the bedroom, and the stash.

Post by keyda81 »

It's not much, but it works well for me. I started out on the dining room table several years ago, and after acquiring more supplies and paint I out grew the space at the table, so I had to find a place to go. I've had the desk since I was a kid, it was my Mothers when she was growing up. Just had some junk stored in it, so it got emptied out, and slowly filled with more and more supplies and paint. I try to be neat and organized with all my stuff, I'm not a fan of messes. Paint booth is a homemade contraption that is vented out the bedroom window, and the lights on the wall were given to me by a friend at the museum. I know the wall isn't pretty, and I really should take the time to fix it, but I hate working with dry wall, and I hate the smell of house paint, lol. Anyway, my little modeling corner in the bedroom.....

A few pics of the stash when I went through and did inventory in March. I've since added a few more to that, a couple of 1/48 Trumpeter C-47's. I have plans for both.

The "Planes of Niagara" stash. I'd like to build one of every USAF bird that was stationed at my local air base. It's a "long term" goal, lol.

Quite the stash you have there! I have way more than I'll ever build. It seems that I'm not building much of what I have, but buying kits to builld....goi figure.

That space looks to be quite functional, and if it works - that is all that matters.

I remember having a little desk and set up like that for quite a few years. But without such good lighting. That’s a great stash that you have going there. I think that you’re quite well covered at this point.

I spy 2 Revell kits in your stash that I have in my stash....the A-10 Thunderbolt and the P-61 Black Widow.
The A-10 Thunderbolt I’ve already done. The fit was okay but not the greatest. Average at best. Couldn’t wait to finish it because it was getting on my nerves building it.

However, that P-61 Black Widow kit is a nightmare. Yes, it is a reissue of the old Monogram kit but the old Monogram kit was a better kit. The Revell kit is horrible. Lots of flash, figures looked like they’re going through a famine. One boom has nacelle molded in, the other is separate part. I couldn’t go further without putting a hammer to it. I’d rather find a better 1/48 scale Black Widow than build the Revell kit. No doubt they produced them using old molds.

That looks like a good place to work keyda. When I first returned to this hobby, circa 1988, all I had was the kitchen table. After moving into our current home in 1990, I finally had a dedicated study to use. (I confess to strongly disliking the term "man cave"...) It has been wonderful having it but it needs to be twice as large as it is now.

I think I see six kits in your "Planes of Niagara" stash that I've also built, and no doubt posted here at some point. I believe that I may be the "world's slowest modeler" and a master at procrastination, but hey, I do "plan" to build them all. I'll just need to live to about 150; hope the hands and eyes hold out!

My study is currently in quite a messy state, and really needs a thorough tidying up. But here's a look at it from several years back; sadly, it hasn't grown an inch since!

It's funny you got kits to build the "Planes of Niagara."

I was going to start one as the "Aircrafts of Griffiss AFB." :giggles: :lashed:

I already have the B-52 Stratofortress with Griffiss markings. Just got to find/collect more from their history right up to the base closure. The Delta Dart is high on my list. :lashed:

That is an excellent little space! Your spray booth is also impressive for being a homemade contraption. Excellent stash as well. I think I built about a third of those 1/72 scale kits.
