Here comes my latest finish, almost oob.

Saab J29 Tunnan in Austrian colors.
Kit: Matchbox
Scale: 1/72

Always fun to build such ancient kits. Hope you like the result too

Some of you asked how the NMF was done. Actually this project was a trial to go for a NMF by using only one shade of Aluminum paint.
Welll then step by step:

1. Model primed with DULL light gray.


2. Several panels masked with Tamiya tape (according to reference photos)


3. Unmasked sections airbrushed with Vallejo GLOSS black primer


4. Masking fully removed


5. Airbrushed entire model with Vallejo Metal Color ALUMINUM DULL


6. Polished several panels with Q-tip, different intensity


7. Preparing for decals by using Alclad Aqua Gloss, put decals on, then again Aqua Gloss to seal decals followed by a washing (thinned oil paint, dark gray).


8. Sealing model with Tamiya SEMI GLOSS clear coat.


9. 6. Polished several panels with Q-tip, different intensity


10, Drybrushing of some panels by using Gunze Mr. Metal Aluminum, followed by a sensitive polishing. Final assembly.

Conclusion: Trial worked, nevertheless I doubt I will do it again as I am happy with Gunze Mr. Metal as it is a polishable paint. Disadvantage of those colors is IMO that they are not resistant against masking tape (peeling-off...). So I have to find a way to prime and seal those paints properly.
