Monty’s Humber

This is an old 1/35 scale Airfix kit (1975) I had purchased at Syrcon 34 for $15. I had watched a YouTube video prior to building it and watched how the builder assembled it and what to watch for.

There is no engine at all since the Humber body comes in halves. The only visible part of the engine you will see are the oil pan, oil filter, starter, exhaust system with a single header. You can see it in the photo below:

I will point out one thing this assembly stage is very hard to do. The front spring assembly which consists of 8 or 9 parts in all! I had spent two days working on it due to tiny parts and working slow. The rear axle with springs, gas tank were the easiest to do.

I painted the under carriage Tamiya XF-81 Dark Green 2 (RAF). The back side of rims are painted this color as well.

Its been awhile since I’ve posted progress pics so here it is.

The tiresI painted using Mission Model Tire Black. At the time I may have over thinned it somewhat but as Bob Ross call it a Happy Accident. It looks perfect in my eye that I don’t have to weather the tires itself. All I need to do is weather the hubcaps then I’m golden.

Now I wonder if I have enough Gunze H320 Dark Green to finish it. I may have to add the fiddly bits to the body to finish it and hope for the best. At the moment, I’m too busy on the Star Trek Bridge. :lashed:

Looks like I ran out of the Dark Green as predicted. Only half of the Humber got painted. Time to order a couple bottles of Gunze H320 Dark Green :bored: I say a couple so I have extra bottle on hand.

I hate when that happens! :headslap: Running out of paint in the middle of the paint job is the worst. Ya never know if the new paint will quite exactly match… :nono:
