AMT 77 Pacer Wagon

Post by tempestjohnny »

Ugly duckling

Backstory. This was the first kit I ever built as a 7 year old. No paint and dad helped glue together

Oh were they ever ugly back in its day. :giggles: Plentiful yet often unreliable too. My dad wanted to get one when they first came out.

Looks great especially in that baby blue and rims.

Upon closer look at the box cover in the background, I fondly recall seeing that kit back in the mid to late 70s. I think my sister did that kit.

When I looked up the color options. The Baby Blue just screamed 1970's. The rims came with the kit. No idea why they didn't have stock rims included

There's one you don't see very often. Had a girlfriend in highschool that had one - I have the distinct honor of making out in a Pacer :giggles: :bag:
Thanks,
John

That is unusual to say the least! Good job on it too. When those cars first came out, a local man bought one in that same color. An old Czech tinsmith I knew called it a "Pecos". I never corrected him because I thought that sounded pretty cool, and besides, he had an early '50s Studebaker pickup...and that was definitely kewl!

I see a Pacer, and I think of Wayne’s World… :giggles:

Nice work on the beast TJ.

Can’t imagine how long it took to defog those greenhouse windows after those “lovely sessions.” ROFL!
