That looks good!

Last night I finished gluing the fuselage. No major (or minor really) paint damage from the gluing process :yahoo:
I found that most of the glue (Tamiya Xtra Thin) could be applied to the inside of the seam via the multitude of openings in the fuselage.
I also started painting the wings. Figured I would have a go with chipping fluid. It did not really work out. Made two mistakes 1) not a thick enough base color (Tamiya flat aluminum lacquer in this case). 2) Not enough chipping fluid. half of the chipping you see in the photo is all the way down to the bare kit plastic! Oh well, live and learn. Easy to repaint.
Started working on the top turret as well. That's gonna be a pain to mask now that I have polished off all the panel lines

It looks like you laid down a stellar paint job 11 years ago! Glad to see that it's going back together without issue. I remember this kit too and yup, I built it in my younger days.

Very cool. I’m sure they oversprayed many spots of chipped paint so think of it as adding to the realism!

I don’t think that there was much time for paint touch ups in the 8th Air Force. With the attrition rates of that command, it was fly them until shot down or worn out. There was always a new plane to replace the ones lost or worn out.

Yea, I am sure they were kept pretty busy with regular maintenance, repairing damaged a/c , making one flyable a/c out of two unflyable ones. The attrition rates were pretty unimaginable until 1945. No time for cosmetic stuff.
