AMS is setting in big time.. Why not remove the radio boxes from the frame?

Need to also do some surgery so that the tail wheel can be inserted in the final assembly -- not before fuselage is closed up.

The attachment holes are cut in half and he lower section will be removed.

Gear doors are removed with razor saw to be refined and attached later. This also allows for easier clean up of fuselage seam
Crudest part of the Monogram P-51D is the lower rear fuselage. Removed bad details and filed down area with large step between tail wheel in radiator exhaust.

You’re doing more cutting than gluing so far… :hmm: I am quite curious to see what you’re gonna do next with this.

Really interesting to see the different approaches to building these kits - looking forward to seeing where this goes.

Some progress on the P-51B, some rescribing has been done on the wings and fuselage, as well as some panel line removal on the wings. The exhausts have been drilled out, and there has been a little cockpit painting and assembly. I will be using the radiator exit scoop and some other associated parts from an Accurate Miniatures kit so some cutting was done on the lower fuselage. I will also be using the instrument panel from the AM kit, the Monogram plan was to cut out a decal and glue it on it's paper backing to a bulkhead on the fuselage.
Apologies John if it seems like I'm ignoring your build - it certainly sounds great (I love P-51B's), but I've tried three different devices and all the browsers I can think of and I still can't see your images - I can't even open your website - which makes me think it's something to do wuth me being outside of the US.

Yeah I've tried that - Firefox, Edge and Chrome on three PC's and on my kindle - nothing opens the photo's or John's website. I'm starting to wonder if it's a cross Atlantic security thing. :hmm: The strange thing it I used to be able to see all of Johns pic's, and view his website which I've done many times - it's just weird.

It is those darn Welsh! You might fiddle with the firewall settings. Methinks there are a few bugs about.

Yeah, blooming Welsh, either that or its the amount of sheep around here.

I'm actually going to dig out my old Windows 7 Laptop and see if it works on that. (P.S. I've not forgotten your scan, I've just not had a chance to do it yet - that's me on the left :puzzle: )

More progress on the P-51B. So far there is no filler on this which is a bit surprising. The instrument panel is from an Accurate Miniatures kit. Yes, the seat belt painting is less than stellar and yes I did paint the stick grip black before attaching the canopy.
