I have some photos of an A-4 Skyhawk gunsight for reference if you’re interested…
Thanks Carlos! Guns are prefab-- master model or something like that.. Reference photos are always welcome!
Oh,yea, the pencil rub is on Tamiya tape -- I just scanned it in grayscale...

Very interesting about the scan from tape. Ingenious! :shoutout:

Here is the sight off of a Skyhawk that one of the guys brought into an AMPS meet a few years ago

You're welcome Chris. It was cool in that if you shined a bright light up the mount tube, the aiming reticle would project onto the sight glass.

Okay, how did you get a pencil rubbing to scan?
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

:hmm:
  • Place tape on canopy
  • Rub raised detail with pencil
  • remove tape from canopy
  • stick tape to index card (dont smudge the pencil!)
  • put index card on scanner
  • scan
:giggles:

The new fuse prototype is 'Sarge Approved'.
Styrene rod, strip of aluminum from soda can, tiny .2mil punched styrene disk for the end cap.

Well I tried to make my Mk VIII gunsight look as much like a Skyraider sight as I could. I added a big knob on the left side and a rectangular plate as the base of the glass...which I am not sure is right now that I am thinking about it...

Now I can get the cockpit installed finally and then the wing can go on.
