CB's Monogram 1/48 A-1H Skyraider Build

So naturally, after the build is done, I come across a photo that shows the 'red bombs' in the monogram skyraider kit could have indeed just been used as external fuel tanks...

Yes, as molded they were a tank type used by the USN. And the kit originally was released with USN & VNAF markings



In these photos, the tanks are painted in VA-195’s Squadron color, red.

Yup... that's the Skyraider kit I did in my early teen years.
