The Chinese Balloon

Post by keavdog »

Big hammer :ballbat:

A senior military official said on Saturday that the Chinese spy balloon was shot down at 2:39 p.m. on Saturday by one air-to-air A9X sidewinder missile fired by an F-22 Raptor that took off from Langley Air Force Base in Virginia.
Thanks,
John

I’m sure the Chinese gave the US permission.

Curious to see the debris along with the payload...not that I would know.

Thousands of small bits of paper with rather obscure sayings written on them...

It did make me laugh seeing this on the news - the guy from your DofD spouting indignation at the Chinese and how dastardly they were overflying the US with this balloon... Remind me again how many spy satellites you guys have got up in orbit?

And they waited 2 days to make that decision o shoot it down?!? The rest of the world is certainly laughing at us.
Any normal President would immediately say shoot it down once it was sighted. The Pentagon didn’t want it shot down - which didn’t make any sense why.

After over two decades in service, the Raptor makes its’ first kill… a balloon… :hmm: As far as the rest of this sad tale, it just reinforces my opinion of the current chain of command.

Well, that solves the mystery. Obviously, that balloon was merely delivering fortune cookie "fortunes" to our many Chinese buffets. So, everyone can relax. At least they didn't try to seize our airfields, like the British did in our War of Independence!
