Eduard 1/48 F6F-3 Hellcat

Post by Floki »

I've strarted on my next project. Eduards 1/48 F6F-3 Hellcat in the new boxing and I believe the new Eduard decals that have the carrier film that is removed after the decal has set, I will be doing some experiments with some unused markings to find out for sure and do some research on how to properly use them. The molds for this kit are starting to show their age with a good amount of flash and just recently found out a bad wing root connection, no photo of the problem area yet. A few extras I got for this is HGW belts, Eduard spACE 3d decals for the cockpit and Master brass gun barrels.

I since this version of the Hellcat has side windows on the fuselage behind the pilots seat, I scratch built some bracing that can be seen through them. It's not 100% accurate and 80% of what I built can't be seen but in the end I'm glad I added it. More of the bracing can be seen in the video.

Here's where I'm at right now, hope to have more to show by the end of the week

That's nice scratch building there. Never heard of decals you can remove the carrier film from. Let us know how they work out.

Chris this is Eduards new decals. Once they're applied you can remove the clear film which is on top of the decal instead of below. Some like it some hate it

I think I’d hate it. Another reason fo me to avoid Eduardo. Anyway, that looks quite good, Clint. Nice work.

I'll still buy Eduard kits but I'd rather get aftermarket decals instead of dealing with the new decals from Eduard.

Looking great especially on the scratch built brackets.

Nice work on the Hellcat. I'll pass on Eduard's decals though.

Looking good Clint, Eduards Hellcat is really a wonderful kit!

Jaa-a, I have mixed opinions regarding those decals. On my Zero build they worked quite well, but on my Wildcat build disaster strucked… :bag:

Thanks everyone! I've got the wings glued on and have filled the gap at the wingroot with miliput. Will start sanding that tonight
