Cool! You can get there before you leave.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Interesting article. Although the year listed in the article for the X-15 project is off by 20 years. But yes, in spite of what you read in the press, Hypersonic craft have been around for decades.
