Me thinks it’s gonna look just like the box art when you’re done :wow:

Man that looks great! Did you use Light or Dark Gull Gray? Mine looks significantly lighter than yours.

Thanks. Doing a Marine scheme just to be different. The topside is gull grey.36440. Tamiya's instructions say to use a USAF light grey but I couldn't find anything to corroborate that.
The USAF color looks too light to me, as on the bottom of Skyraders in Viet Nam.

See, with mine you can hardly tell the difference between the two colors.

Yeah, I wish Rex was still around to confirm. But the Navy/Marine Corps never used 36622 as a topside color. 36440 was the standard once introduced in the mid to late 50’s until the TPS schemes were adopted. Although I do recall Rex saying something about the standard for the Light Gull Gray being changed at some point to be something similar to USAF Aircraft Gray.

Lovely work, John. a good ol" classic early jet.

Such a lovely looking fighter plane! John, the Gull Gray looks excellent!

Thanks, Lyle and Carlos. As I was afraid, from my experience with the instrument panel decal, getting the markings on this one was at least an 8 hour chore, and there really aren't that many of them. I will have to do a lot of touch up but they are so fragile I will do another clear coat first. About 60% broke coming off the paper. On the best day the intake markings would be a struggle, next time I will paint those and just use the danger triangle as the red is a very good match to Tamiya Flat Red. Anybody know what color would match the walkways and antiglare panel? Radome Tan?
