ok so I haven't posted a build since the old forum, but as you guys inspired me to have a go at my first Luftwaffe bird in the Luftwaffe GB - I thought I'd show you how I'm getting on.
Paints are Humbrol Enamels with a Hairy Stick.
It's a really nice kit this - it goes together really well. It's also moved along a little from these pictures as I've added another coat of yellow to the nose and touched up the mistakes - on to the mottles....
Cheers and thanks for looking (it's been a while since I joined, perhaps I'd better do a re-introduction thread)

A pic of your hairy stick would be kinda nice and all...for comparison...

Hey portman, nice to see some pics and lines from you. Beside a stick comparison, which as an airgunner I could only lose, I'm very impressed what a clean finish you can achieve with it.
And now you're talking of applying mottles with a brush...
Ok, do your magic!

Thanks Guys!
Mmmmm...mottles, brush or sponge maybe - practice needed first I think.

Nothing wrong with brush painted, BSYamato also does all his builds with a brush. I just think rattle cans and airbrush is easier for larger surfaces. I cannot paint those without brush streaks.

Well so here we are then - Mottles! Probably not the best in the world but I'm pretty pleased with them. I used a Q-tip/cotton bud with a dab on, dab off and roll it around technique, and built it up in layers. I also finished the yellow and added the tail.
@borg - you're right, he is a Master at it. I think his paint is so thin that is must be like water! I have some rattles cans too but I've yet to get the best of them.
Cheers

Good colour application for a brush painted job, really! Never heard of Q-Tips being used as a mottle brush: a modeller“s ingenuity!
