I just ran across this one on my Photobucket page so I thought I would share it here. It's the 1/48 scale Hasegawa P-40N which I built for a P-40 Group Build on another site, probably 2 years ago. It's in the markings of the 80th FG 89th FS, also known as the "Burma Banshees". They were assigned to protect "the hump" supply operations over the high Himalayas from Japanese fighter attacks. The 80FG is one of the lesser known units and didn't spawn many aces that I am aware of, but needless to say, they were just as important as the others. Besides, the skulls are totally bad a@@! I recall it being beautfully detailed, but tricky with all of the typical Hasegawa inserts (plugs). I used Sky decals for the markings and the only extra addition was some PE belts.

I recall that this was one of my first condensation streaking experiments and I was a wee bit heavy handed. I have the E version in the stash that may get some love soon.

nice bird! Read a book written by pilots on flying the ww2 aircraft. The P-40 was quite an aircraft.

Like it a lot! The streaking may be a bit overdone in relation to the real thing, but it makes the olive drab-desert look very interesting. And that's what a model should do - looking good.

Really nice - especially with this skull nose art
I find the weathering quite good.
