Under New Management- Finishing Kits Started by Somebody Else

Post by Stikpusher »

This thread title says it all. I’m leading off with a gorgeous Takom M3 Lee kit. This is one of several purchased earlier this year at AMPS, from the collection of a deceased area modeler. This kit was at about the 95% finish line construction wise, but needed to be refinished. Why? Well, because in this case I don’t believe that the Soviets repainted their US built armor from OD into 4B0 green. But that could just be my supposition. But color photos of Lend Lease Soviet Shermans show those in OD, so….

Anyways here is the Lee after I added the last parts, replaced the broken off over grab bars over the side hatches with new ones made from wire, and added a wire antenna. Before and after paint.

Now I need to add tracks, markings, and weathering….

That looks great Stik. Nice job completed it! I'm definitely not a lend-lease armor expert so no arguments from me on your color choice...

Thanks Chris. This still has a few more sessions to go before I can call it done. I’m aiming for by the weekend.

That's looking very nice Carlos, and what a great idea for a build!

Stuart & TJ, thanks. I know that I need to get some Western Allied tanks in Lend Lease Soviet markings on my Red Army display shelf. This one is a perfect candidate.

Nice recovery on the paint job and broken handle as well as antenna.

Thanks guys!

So here is the progress update to cover the last few days…

First I got the tracks painted and installed…

Then today, gloss coated and decals on…

Almost at the finish line now… just a bit of detail painting, flat coat, and weathering to be done….
