I started the decal application today with the undersides… those underwing US Navy decals have to be the largest single piece decals that I’ve ever applied. I think that this set was scaled for another kit, as the gear door stripes were off size wise just a fraction in length here and there…

I’ll finish the topside markings tomorrow….

Looks so sharp. Such a great color combo - I like them more visually than the thunderbirds or red arrows etc
Thanks,
John

Thanks John. The colors do look great, but I’m still torn about the Thunderbirds. I love their Native American bird design on the bottom of the aircraft. But the Hornet looks just meaner and more beautiful in blue than the last few types that the team has flown.

Yeah I had a hard time deciding which one to do. Everybody usually does the team leader’s mount, #1, but that is a rather dull looking number on the tail. Now a 5 :hmm: plus him being the lead solo…
My Blues Skyhawk will be #4, the “slot” pilot, when I build that one.

Todays update:

Topside decals on.

I have a few more to add tomorrow. Very small ones. Mostly because I lost the afternoon bench session time for family duties.

More to come soon…

TJ & Chris, thank you.

Since it’s so close to the finish line now, no more photo updates until this one is completed in a few days…
