second entry

Post by LyleW »

I've simply given up on that old Phantom P-51. It is junk and I don't need that any longer. In the bin it goes. As much as I thought I wanted to build another one of those to "relive my youth" as it were, Naw.

To replace it I've chosen the oldie, but goodie, Monogram # 5406, Skyhawk A-4E. According to Scalemates, she is as old as some of my socks. . . 1977. These are not my pictures....

It looks to be a far easier kit than the Mk. IV. Needed a break from that one. This is a couple of hours. Maybe, just maybe, I'll finish one.

Oh nice one, Lyle! I did that kit as a kid. Fond memories building it. I love those old Monogram aircraft kits of the 70s and 80s.

That's a good choice. :shoutout: I look forward to updates as you progress through this, Lyle!

I've had the 1/48 Monogram OA-4M kit since the late '80s. I love how the aircraft looks and it seems to be a nice kit but painting those gear doors with the red edges just scares me every time I try one.

Nice kit choice Lyle! The Skyhawk kit is and oldie & goodie! Looks like your halfway to the finish line already!

Yelp. I think my brother-in-law worked on them in the Marines.

I come humbly asking for an extension to complete the second task, Codfather. 2 weeks, should do it.

if not, forgetaboudit. we'll do another one.

Decalling has started. Yes, they were bad and shattered. Tried Microscale liquid decal film to no avail. Printed two copies, Printed several attempts making the white under layment since they are printed on clear. Decals with color are beginning to scratch. My guess is the "laser" printer I baout to replace the Dell printer isn't a true laser. So, some of the decals look bad, but it is weathering, right?

The light finally showed up

Since you ask in an appropriate manner, you have the requested extension. :ballbat:
