Re: Empire of the Rising Sun Group Build
Thank you, John.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Now that the Pucara is out of the way and finished, it's time to post progress pics on the Rufe.
The undersides and small topside portion on main float is painted using Pactra RC colors Japanese Imperial Grey. Topside is Pollyscale Railroad colors Atlantic Coast Purple.

Re: Empire of the Rising Sun Group Build
My second entry of this Group led is finished. During WW2, a small percentage of Rufes (repotedly 30 Rufes) were painted in lilac color during the Aleutian Campaign in 1942.
I used a black base on the whole aircraft, including g the floats. The undersides were painted Grey using Pactra RC colors Imperial Grey. The lilac is painted using Pollyscale Railroad Colors Atlantic Coast Purple. My method is airbrushing it lightly at a fair distance away not to fully cover the black completely.

Lilac/purple, huh? Weird. Looks good, though and a good looking build, Tom.

Re: Empire of the Rising Sun Group Build
I still have the float trolley assembled, not painted if anyone wants it. Gonna hang it on my ceiling at my bench since I forgot (:bag:) to add the weights to the main float.
The instruction guide mentioned some Rufes were lilac color during the Aleutian Campaign. When I saw Aleutian Rufe were lilac, I googled it and had to run with it. I took a cue on another lilac Rufe build on scalemates, studied it, and test my method on a mule kit. Started with a black base then practiced using the lilac to what I wanted to do. It didn't take me long to figure how to get the look I wanted.
I'm a sucker to throw in an oddball scheme nobody thinks of to throw off everybody here. Most of them I find online. How and where? Ancient Chinese secret...
