you know the kit is old, first release 1969, have used the rebox with PE but the kit it self is gold, but not to bad

Wow, Peter, that is really great! Well done.
To make each build less crappy than the last one. Or, put another way, "Better than the last one, not as good as the next one!"..

Damn that looks great, Peter! I do fondly remember the old Monogram Airacobra kit as a kid. Hand painted the camo scheme.

Very nice work sir. I love this kit.
I have this one in my stash and I plan on doing the box markings exactly -- even if there is some question as to their authenticity. It's supposed to be a re-claimed British machine in British colors or equivalent (but I like the sand/dark green/neutral grey box interpretation better and will be pleading ignorance if ever questioned on the matter
I do believe the unit markings are from a state-side training unit (based on the Z number code), but It looks to be flying over port moresby on the box so I'll plead ignorance on that as well if I accidentally put some kill markings on it . I had originally planned on painting it all with Testors square bottle paints as a nostalgia build, but alas, with the demise of Testors, I may have to scrap that part of the plan.

I looked up the stateside training codes and found that Z was apparently not used, Chris. Perhaps it's nose art shorthand for Zorro!cbaltrin wrote: ↑Sat Feb 24, 2024 9:45 am Very nice work sir. I love this kit.
