:yikes: It took her 20 years to knit a scarf!!! (I'm not kidding either) How long do you think this will take!
Pffftt… my mom tried to crochet a blanket for a lifetime. She always starts one so about yea wide and at least 5 inches high before she gets bored and starts another color for a new one. She’s done God only know how many. I told my mom in the nursing home string’em all together and you got one ugly @$$ blanket.
She never did. But cleaning out the house when my dad went in the nursing home fell on me. The bedroom closet was filled floor to ceiling, wall to wall of yarn my mom hoarded over the years.
It's a shame you can't do it for her if you still have all the pieces.

My mom passed away in 2015. My dad went in the nursing home in 2016; so the house was cleaned out that summer of 2016. Dad died in 2017.

Oh hell no... threw them all out. She had way too much of yarn, I was glad to get rid of them. Even my wife was astounded with the amount of yarn my mom hoarded over the years.

Good thing she wasn’t into building models! Whoever heard of not finishing a project before starting another? And hoarding stuff to do it with?

The most numerous subject type in my stash is 1/35 M4 Sherman’s, counting in at 21… 22 if you add the sole M50 Sherman… for aircraft, my most numerous type is Bf-109s, coming in at 18. With two of those being in 1/32 and the rest in 1/48.
