Well... kinda saying it's an F8F-1B. Great kit overall. Could use some 3d cockpit decals though and the glass is pretty thick. OOB except for the super scale decals which worked pretty well - VF-17 (original Jolly Rogers) 1946

Man, that looks great, John! 👍 Your paint scheme is like the only real Bearcat I've seen; the late Howard Pardue's bird at a Waco airshow back in the '80s. Well done indeed, sir! :shoutout:

Very nice looking F8F John! :shoutout: :shoutout: :shoutout:
Now you need the Grumman twins, F5F & F7F to round out your Iron Works Piston Engined Fighters collection :hmm: Oh yeah, maybe an F3F too…

Thanks for the kind words.

Stik - I was looking at my AMT Tigercat last night. I was going to do a fire bomber conversion on it, but it is such a good looking plane as is I'm going to do a Marine bird. This may be next on the bench

The F5F never went into production and in my opinion is one funky looking airplane.
I've looked at the Accurate Miniatures 1/48 F3F several times, but my fear of bi-planes takes over :giggles:

Thanks. I've read the Tigercat is a tail sitter despite guys loading the thing with weight. I figure I'll just go with the barrels, maybe do a base. I also hear the decals are crappy which has me a bit worried.

Very much so. That's what I did. I don't think the landing gear could handle the amount of weight needed to keep the nose down.

Over 75 grams of ballast weight and she still wouldn't keep her nose wheel grounded!
