Still banging out kits in 2024....

My next build is this classic bird...

Image

Low part count, not much detailing. Typical of Glencoe kits.
7 decal choices - 2 USAAC, 1 US Marines, and 4 Argentine options.

Image

I'm doing the Kelly Field option ( top pic)

This is where I'm at now...

Cool - only ever worked on 1 Glencoe kit: their Duck but never finished it and lost during my many moves in the late 80s.
Looks like you're on a biplane kick.

The tail wheel, wing braces, wing skids, etc... color call out is Varnished Wood. Hmmm...

Image

Testors Model Master Wood is too light, Military Brown is too dark. Neither color is gonna work.

So, I decided to mix both with Wood being the primary color. Added Military Brown a little at a time until I found the shade I'm looking for. Here's the mixed color of my version of Varnished Wood...

Linen Yellow. Nope... don't have that color.
Did a few test colors on scrap white paper. All Pollyscale colors:

Doped Linen? Nope... too light
Aged White? Nope... not quite. Still a little light in color.
Dirty White? Not even close. Has a bit of green hue.
CP Yellow/US TAC Tan FS30256. Waay too dark for my liking.

Finally, I spied Italian WW2 Camo Yellow 2 FS33481.

Oh yeah... that's the ticket!

Looks like a fun kit. Your doing a great job so far -- should look real sharp when complete.

Gunze H78 Olive Drab is on last night.

Yeah, it’s is a fun kit. Low part count to boot. She’s gonna be a beaut when finished. Not even gonna attempt rigging this bird. Too many complicated rigging from what I see on box cover.

Yes, Rigging is why I stay away from biplanes. Heck, I don't even like adding antenna wires to my ww2 stuff :bag:

Antennas on WW2 aircrafts is child's play. Ships? Well.... :bag: :giggles:
