Dragon 1/700 USS Antietam CV-36

Post by dmminiatures »

Some of the few kits that i managed to complete in my new place. I bought this a few years ago and worked on a bit of the hull. But that is all I did. fast forward a few years I thought it would be good to work on it again. The box fit perfectly in my suitcase...and off I went buidling it in Surabaya.

This was the fist ship model I made almost in 10 years. I like this Dragon kit. I am glad they included a full hull opposed to waterline. wish they gave more aircraft though.

I built the Antietam as she cruised prior to her retrofit in 1955, hence the shorter mast.

She was the first Essex carriers that got an angled deck and a catapult. One day i will buy her a better display stand made of stained wood.

I always like carriers in this period. perhaps because of their contribution to the technology used for today's carriers.

Impressive. By the way, fell free to repost old builds in the member's gallery area. We lost a bunch of stuff when Proboards dumped us.

You can post as much or as little as you like. I, personally, enjoy your WIP pics. And your tips, and your finished work. Whatever you are comfortable with.

That's a beautiful carrier! Well done! If you want more aircraft, Trumpeter makes extra sets of aircraft for carriers in 1/700 and 1/350 scale. They are always molded in clear plastic, but they look excellent!

By all means, post as much as you can of everything you can.

That's a good looking model. The deck weathering is right on, subtle and more gray than black.
We sure got our moneys worth from that design.

Yes, the Essex Class truly brought the aircraft carrier into the modern age. Great ships!

And yes indeed that is a beautiful build :beau:
