This is an aircraft that is currently located in Nampa, Idaho at the Warhawk Air Museum. She is on permanent display and is still used in airshows. I was unable to locate any decent pics of here in wartime so I built it like it looks today. This is why it is not weathered or dirty. It appears Duane may have also flown a P-47 with the same nose art, but I really struggled to locate old pics of either bird. The one I found of the -51 was terrible. So, I am happy with this and how it turned out. Typical Tamiya shake and bake kit with Vallejo paints and Eduard PE belts and instrument panel. This was a true pleasure to build.

Pilot:
Duane Beeson from Boise, ID. 1921-1947. He passed at Walter Reed Mem Hosp. 1947 of a brain tumor shortly after meeting his wife in 1946.

Rank at end of war: Major

Awards:
Distinguished Flying Cross with Oak leaf cluster
Distinguished Service Cross
Silver Star
Purple Heart
Air Medal

POW near the end of the war and liberated by the Soviets in 1945.

Great subject, albeit a bit of a sad story. Turned out really nice. I like the B and the D equally.
BTW - check your title :giggles:

Very nice looking build Brandon!

I know it’s a bit too late for this project, but this site is an excellent resource for the USAAF in the ETO

https://www.americanairmuseum.com/archi ... ard-beeson

Lots of photos on Beeson and a few of his mounts.

Thanks guys. It's really nice to knock out a kit that just goes together with no fuss and looks the part when done.
