Want to build a new work bench. Any working ideas?

Post by BlackSheep214 »

Thinking of building my own like this one from Sears only a bit bigger with more storage.

It also shows the dimensions too. Any thoughts of what changes I could do to it? How much bigger would you go length-wise and depth-wise? How would you design it as an L-shaped workbench based on that? I know I'll probably close off one of the cubbies for my reference binders/books (inside back left side). Any ideas?

I do have a bench on the right side of my temporary workspace/table. I do have a metal shelving there as my future display case. Of course, I will seal it off to prevent cat disasters and dust.

I guess size depends on how much linear space you have, huh? That is a nice clean workspace to be sure. Look around in some flea market places....I found an old office cubicle, complete with the side pieces drawers and a shelf for a hunnert.

Do you have an IKEA near you? That's where all the stuff in my model room came from. The bench and bookshelves.

Oh man... I wish there was an IKEA near me. Two are located in Brooklyn and Long Island and a couple places in NJ and CT - all at least 5+ hours from me. Haven't thought about checking their website though.

Both me and SWMBO have gotten tables from there. I use mine for my benches. SWMBO uses them for her artwork. Cheap and easy to put together.

I finally got around to taking pics of my workspace in my cellar. Any ideas for storage cabinets placements would be appreciated. I know an L-shape workspace would be ideal (running front to left side, airbrush station will go in left corner or left end of workspace on left side).

NOTE - Ceiling height is 7 feet

I have plans to build my own airbrush booth hopefully this summer.

Just a small idea: a magnetic rail to hold all your tools on. Works like a charm.
