Really like to see this build. Big fan of sea planes and that is one of the big dogs.

Have you built this? I have the Clipper kit, but I was also dreaming of the Short Sunderland after seeing Chris Wauchop build the Airfix kit—oh, it's nice to dream when you can't afford anything.

Also, is Airfix really pronounced A-I-R-Fix? I'm watching a youtube doc on the history and the droning announcer is using that pronounciation. I've just reached the part where A-R-Fix acquires Dinky.

I haven't built it, but I've looked at it a few times. Crack that one open and do a build thread.

My father had a deep affection for the Pan Am Clippers… in spite of him being a life long TWA man… I definitely want to see this project built!

Thank you so much for seeing and responding. I’ve been revisiting the unbuilt kits I have stored with me. Most are in Utah. I’ve been a bit stuck because my neighbor upstairs was complaining about the paint smell and began texting me that it was causing headaches. As she is a legal assistant i realized that she was starting a case against me. It’s unfortunately a result of stacked living in Los Angeles.

And unfortunately she’s home all the time.

I’ve been contemplating a brush build type of project, so I went looking at my kits here—

1/144 Boeing Clipper not a brush build with fine detailing

Wolfpack U-Boat

Various 1/72 and 1/48 kits

Mars Attacks figure bust

Very cool. What a beautiful airplane. Did airfix do this in 1/72 as well?

Sorry Chris, they didn’t. At this scale the wingspan is 12-1/2 inches. As far as I know Anigrand is the only maker who produced a resin version at 1/72.

As Bruce said, sadly not. They did do a 1/72 Shorts Sunderland though.

Good morning!

RE: Your recent inquiry regarding the pronunciation of the name “Airfix”.

Remember the baration is likely AI generated. For how smart AI is claimed to be, it is like a dyslexic drunk reading train schedules over the PA!

Build this, please. OOB. I’ll join you.
