Hi folks - Here is one of my builds that I completed when I just moved out. Once I bought some of the basic tools and supplies, I began trying to complete this small kit during the evenings and weekends (since my family is in another town).



This is a very simple kit with over sized panel lines and little surface details (the Academy 1/72 kit is far better).



With few tools at hand, the only scratch-building work that I did was to showing the flaps in the dropped position. It requires cutting off the flaps from the two halves of the wings. I have done this operations many time. It is supposed to be a walk in the park, but working with crude cutting tools, it was a little bit challenging.

what did you use for the NMF?

Thanks Owl. i use a commercial rattle can. said it was for autocars. In Indonesia its marketed as RJ London. it says 'chrome silver' and gives out a shinr like Alclad white aluminum. here is the image of the can.



no gloss black underpaint is needed. bought the can for $4-$5.

Thanks Martin. The bpx said that is aircraft depicted is a fighter from the pasific. I wanted to show off the grime left from the tropical heat. to do that, I used different shades of pastel chalks to get that scruffy look.

thanks Paul. Here's what the rattle can chrome silver looks like after initial coating and yellow strip masking. pretty convincing for five dollars.

Actually, the NMF started off with Gaia silver. it flaked really bad. thats when I switched ti the commercial rattle can.

I have used Tamiya AS-12 before with real good results but your $5.00 purchase may have beaten that.

That is a good looking Thunderbolt!

I also use commercial spray cans for NMF. Works like a charm and if it is to glossy you can always tone it down with some flat coat.
