Thought I'd share my current build. Its taken awhile so far but now that I'm entering the painting stage things are exciting again. This is my first modern jet since I was 15 or so, and its been a bit of a learning curve from my normal WW II stuff. Here's the goodies:

a start on the nice Brassin pit:

Drilled out the holes for the instruments, then later on decided to use the pe panel instead. Less painting!

Image

I wanted to detail the inside of the canopies, so I masked the outside as usual, then made reverse masks for the inside by tracing the Eduard pattern with Tamiya tape:

It took lots of patience, good light, and magnifiers to do this.

I then started with the Brassin Nozzle:

They are painted green...trust me.

This was actually a nice resin set, worth it even though you can't see much of the nozzle once its in. I then started to paint the pit silver for adding scratches later:

then the dreaded cockpit turquois green:

Turned out ok I guess. Then I made some scratches and weathering:

Added some details inside the canopy:

The fit was pretty good overall:

You are going all out on AM items on this build Nathant. And it is turning out great so far. I like to Cuban schmes, the blue ones are cool.

I guess you applied the MiG chipping fluid between the silver base coat and the cockpit green?

Thats correct Thomas. I'm still learning how to use the stuff. Seems hard to airbrush on, as it runs all over the place, but in the end, seems to do the job.

Nathan, Your builds are tutorials in themselves! I know it is accurate, but the turquois sure looks harsh until it is weathered a bit! Envious, for sure.

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Now on to the camo. Here is the scheme:

Here are the colors:

The dark red/brown, the light green, and the underside blue will have to be mixed. The rest is good out of the jar! Here's my results:

The camo was done freehand. Its alot of colors to try and weather and bring together.
