Portman, the size and shape of the foil crumples really only makes this suitable for smaller scales but you could maybe crumple the foil up slightly less for 1/72

Great job on your little build of the giant battleship!

Thank you Mustang!
Now that the topic came up i did some googling on ways to create water for seascapes and found this interesting technique i am going to experiment with. It basically involves using styrofoam to create a rough swell, then covering it with Gel Medium. Appearantly artist painters use the stuff to make their paint thick and textured.
So i went to Michaels and found me a jar of the stuff and i just dumped a glob in a jar lid and sort of shaped a basic wavy pattern. Also tried to mix it up with some acrylic paint and it blends in perfectly.
As it is drying (the instructions on the jar mention it has a paint retarding effect so might take awhile...) ill try to mess with it some more and see how easy or hard it is to create a credible sea wave pattern with it

Have to say i like this stuff. After 6 hours it is starting to harden out but is still somewhat plyable/moldable. Definately want to try this full scale with the styrofoam layer underneath.
Also want to try an alternative: clear silicone gel or clear caulking

Glad I found this special build and tutorial! Kermit, this is most amazing!
The Yamato looks fantastic, not overdone in any way. But your SBS on doing the water is superbe! Thank you for sharing this!!!

Always wondered how you guys did it. Also found it very interesting to watch.
